Privacy Policy

This policy explains how MicroPDF (“we”, “us”) handles the files you process, local preferences, and privacy-safe operational usage data.
1. The files you process
Most of our tools run in your browser: the file is read into your browser’s memory, processed on your own device, and offered back to you as a download.
Some tools require software that cannot run in a browser and therefore process your file on our server. These are: PowerPoint → PDF, PDF → Word, OCR PDF, Repair PDF, PDF/A, and Optimize for Web. For these tools your file is sent to us over an encrypted connection and processed in an isolated environment. We handle those uploads as follows:
- The file is used only to perform the conversion you requested.
- It exists only in memory-backed, single-use processing storage for the conversion, then the entire job environment is destroyed. It is not retained or backed up.
- Each server tool’s page is labeled so you know when a file will be uploaded.
The Social Media Tools work differently again: there is no file to upload. You paste a public link and our server fetches it for you, in the same kind of single-use, throwaway environment. Two consequences are worth knowing. First, the site you are downloading from sees a request from us, not from you — your IP address, cookies, and browser are never exposed to it. Second, we do not keep the link, the media, or any record of what you downloaded; the job environment is destroyed as soon as your file has been handed back. We log only the fact that a download happened, which service it was for, and whether it succeeded, so we can keep the free service running.
2. Local preferences
We currently use browser local storage only to remember your light/dark theme preference. MicroPDF does not currently set advertising or analytics cookies.
3. Aggregate service usage
We record limited operational events such as which tool page was opened, whether a server conversion succeeded, a coarse file-size range, and how long it took. We do not log file names, file contents, passwords, document text, or precise file sizes. These records help us find failures and improve popular tools.
Our edge provider also processes ordinary connection information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP address, browser information, requested URL, security signals, and response status.
4. Accounts
You can use the tools without creating an account. If we introduce accounts or paid plans in the future, we will update this policy to describe the information involved.
5. Data location and security
Connections to the site use HTTPS (TLS). Server-side processing (for the tools listed in section 1) takes place on infrastructure located in the European Union. Passwords you enter for the Protect and Unlock tools are used only in your browser and are not transmitted to us.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights such as access, correction, or deletion of personal data. Contact us to make a request. MicroPDF does not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising.
7. Children
The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
8. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; the date above reflects the current version.
